In recent weeks, we’ve been talking about our development as a global business. It’s all really exciting, though in this week’s Sheridan Weekly we want to highlight the other side of success – how do you grow and still keep your original values strong? In short, how does our business (and maybe yours) continue to practise what it preaches, when all around is changing?
This is why I felt so drawn to this week’s lead article. One of the most important parts of leadership, it says, is not just having a vision but showing how to make it real by role modelling best behaviours. Many companies write down their values, but how to live up to them daily when the business you are in is evolving so quickly? It feels like a complex challenge, but the truth is deceptively clear and simple: values should challenge us not on what we do, but on how we do it. And that shouldn’t change, no matter what else happens.
